Todaybreak and Evolution Mining partner to expand the Safe with Milli Program

Frontline family and domestic violence (FDV) and gender-based violence (GBV) services are doing complex, critical work in communities where the need for support continues to grow. The teams working to keep people safe bring deep expertise and commitment, but they need systems, tools and sustained resourcing that match the scale and complexity of the work.

Meaningful change requires more than goodwill. It requires investment in the digital infrastructure that supports communication, collaboration and coordination between services, frontline workers, and the people they support.

That is why Todaybreak is proud to partner with Evolution Mining to expand the Safe with Milli Program in communities where Evolution operates. Evolution’s $440,000, three-year funding commitment supports the Program’s growth in communities neighbouring their Red Lake Operations in Ontario, Canada and their Mungari Operations in the Goldfields, Western Australia.

What is the Program?

The Safe with Milli Program combines frontline service partnerships, shared practice, and purpose-built technology to help people experiencing violence access support, while helping services coordinate that support more effectively.

It is a tech-enabled, service-integrated response to FDV and GBV. At its centre are two digital tools built by Todaybreak’s technology partner, Genvis: Milli, a free personal safety and wellbeing app for people experiencing harm, and Cudo, a case management platform for the frontline services supporting them.

Milli and Cudo have been shaped by insights from frontline workers and from people with lived experience of family, domestic and sexual violence. Communities of Practice underpin the Program, bringing together services and stakeholders to strengthen shared approaches, address challenges, and shape how both tools are developed.

Milli and Cudo are designed, developed and maintained by Todaybreak’s technology partner, Genvis, a female-led, ethically driven public safety technology company focused on social safety and equity. As the team behind Emergency WA and MB Ready, the Western Australian and Manitoban governments' public information sharing safety platforms, Genvis has a proven track record of delivering critical tech solutions during times of crisis.

Why these communities?

Kenora, Ontario has been an important site of learning and collaboration for the Safe with Milli Program. This partnership deepens that work through a major contribution to the Kenora Regional Hub, supporting local partners to strengthen coordinated responses across the community.

Through the Kenora Regional Hub network, the Program aims to have impact in Red Lake, Ontario, in collaboration with local services and community stakeholders committed to improving support for people experiencing intimate partner violence. Evolution’s existing partnership with the Red Lake Area Emergency Shelter provides a foundation for this work. The focus is twofold: building capability across local service providers, and providing direct support for victim-survivors.

In the Goldfields, Western Australia, the Program operates through the CLEAR Project, led by Anglicare WA alongside Genvis and Todaybreak, with major funding from Lotterywest. Evolution's contribution extends this work in a region Evolution already supports, deepening relationships with additional reach and resources.

“Family and domestic violence touches every community, including the ones where we operate. We're proud to partner with Todaybreak on the Safe with Milli Program, and to support something that makes a real difference to people's lives, along with the services supporting them,." said Fiona Murfitt, Evolution Mining Vice President Sustainability.

“We're committed to making a lasting and meaningful impact in the places where we live and operate, and this partnership reflects that."

What corporate partnership can look like

The resources sector often operates in rural and regional communities, where rates of family and domestic violence can be higher than national averages. Evolution's investment in this program recognises that community wellbeing is part of business operations, and that lasting impact requires sustained commitment.

The need for systems-level change in how we respond to FDV and GBV is well understood. Meaningful progress depends on stronger coordination, better tools, faster pathways to support, and cultural change grounded in prevention, accountability, and safety.

Community challenges require community-led responses. When corporate investment is directed in partnership with local services, it can help strengthen the systems already working to keep people safe, resource the frontline organisations carrying this work, and signal that community wellbeing is a shared responsibility.

That's what this partnership represents: not a solution, but a contribution to building one.
